Hurtigruten – Head of Global E-Commerce B2C

Hurtigruten is a global brand and a pioneer in international adventure tourism. For more than 125 years, the Hurtigruten ships have been a hallmark of the Norwegian coast. Today, Hurtigruten also operates premium exploration voyages to Norway, Greenland, Svalbard, Iceland, Europe, South America, Central America, North America, Arctic Canada, and Antarctica. Hurtigruten brings innovations such as the world’s first hybrid cruise ship and fueling our vessels with waste products and pushing hard to become completely emission free.

We may have set sail many years ago, but the feeling is more of a start-up. We are on an exciting journey of transformation, and we need more hands-on deck.  We are looking for a new Head of Global E-Commerce with responsibility for the global online brand experience and our webshop B2C. This position is a great career opportunity as you will take full ownership of Hurtigruten’s global growth of B2C direct sales in close co-operation with our markets. You will be working across the organization, balancing multiple priorities and ideas with the ambition to accelerate value creation and maximize conversion and sales, short- and long term.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

As our Head of E-Commerce, you will be responsible for our global user brand experience online, product and service merchandising, booking funnel, and for defining and executing our E-Commerce strategy globally. This will include:

  • Provide direction as well as leadership to develop and maintain best-in-class user experiences in order to maximize conversion, and increase site visits
  • Manage the day-to-day operational agenda for the global team of web editors and E-Commerce Specialist
  • Be in charge of the value chain, including web content/front page, merchandising for products and services, the booking journey and web analytics, including identifying customer pain points and blockers for conversion
  • Facilitate site performance reports, sharing key insights and recommendations which support markets and drive iterations across the website/booking funnel
  • Drive and lead the innovation agenda by being the senior demand manager for website/ecommerce DevOps as well as ongoing iterations
  • Manage the Center of Excellence by defining global processes, guidelines, way of work/ processes, training, recruitment etc.
  • Take care of and develop the team, including Personnel management, mentoring, coaching, and job crafting

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Finance, or Marketing
  • 5+ years of senior e-commerce management experience
  • Ideally, background from a B2C Travel or Retail company E-Commerce is an important sales channel
  • Have strong knowledge of online marketing solutions, social media integration, SEO, and other monitoring methodologies and analytics
  • Knowledge of project management tools (JIRA/Confluence and Trello
  • advantageous), CMS (EpiServer/Contentful is preferred), and Google Analytics
  • Strategic and analytical mindset
  • Servant and result driven leadership style
  • A team builder with experience from an agile way of working
  • Experience from building qualitative content across digital channels on behalf of premiums brands
  • Language: Fluent in English
